North Korea Warns South Korea Will Be Wiped Out If Preemptive Strike Carried Out
SEOUL - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has warned South Korea's leader Yoon Suk-yeol and his government of "military gangsters" will be "wiped out" if it makes any "dangerous attempt", such as a preemptive strike, according to both North Korean state media and South Korea's Yonhap news.
During his speech, Kim referred to South Korea's military as gangsters and spoke of the South's "Kill Chain" system meant to counter a nuclear attack by North Korea.
Kill Chain refers to a set of preemptive strikes planned by South Korea against North Korean missile facilities, and possibly against the country's leadership if the South detects an incoming attack from the North.
Kim said, "Such a dangerous attempt would be punished immediately by powerful forces, and the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and his military would be wiped out."
"If the South Korean regime and military gangsters are thinking of taking us on militarily and believe they can neutralize or destroy part of our military power preemptively based on particular military means or methods, they are mistaken," he said during the speech that was released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The North Korean leader referred to the South Korean leader by name, leaving out the president title, and said that he clearly remembers all of the South Korean leaders "absurd remarks". He added that he's keeping track of the recent absurdities of the "South Korean military gangsters" Yonhap reported.
Kim said that he will not tolerate the South's behavior anymore and said that the country will pay the price if it continues. He also said that North Korea is "fully prepared" for any military confrontation with the United States, in reference to the joint military exercises the U.S. have been carrying out with South Korea.
"The double standard of the U.S., which misleadingly labels all our daily actions as provocations and threats while holding large-scale joint exercises that seriously threaten our national security, is literally thug-like behavior that pushes North Korea-U.S. relations to conflict and to a point that is irreversible," he stated.
