China Pools Amphibious Tanks And Military Equipment Adjacent To Taiwan

FUJIAN, CHINA - There have been many reports, and sightings of Chinese military vehicles, equipment and tanks in the Chinese city of Xiamen and the province of Fujian, which sits straight across from the island of Taiwan.
The Chinese military vehicles and equipment have not only been spotted within the city, but also gathering on the Fujian beaches adjacent to Taiwan. China says that the vehicles and equipment is for military exercises that will be held from August 2nd, to August 6th.
Of the vehicles present on the Fujian beaches adjacent to Taiwan, are Chinese Type 63A amphibious tanks which are used to carry out beachhead assaults and navigate across rivers and lakes.
Large amounts of military equipment continue to be moved by China to Fujian as U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is expected to make a visit to Taiwan, in the midst of Chinese threats of a response.
Three U.S. warships and an aircraft carrier have been stationed in waters east of Taiwan, with the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier positioned in the Philippine Sea, according to a US Navy official who reportedly spoke to Reuters.
The USS Ronald Reagan is currently based in Japan and operating alongside the guided missile destroyer USS Antietam and the USS Higgins destroyer.
The official told Reuters that "While they are able to respond to any eventuality, these are normal, routine deployments," but said that they are not currently able to give any exact positions.
The official reportedly said that the USS Tripoli is in the area as well, and had been deployed to the region from San Diego back in May.
Reuters reports that Pelosi was due to arrive in Taipei, Taiwan "later on Tuesday", according to "people briefed on the matter" and said that the United States would not be intimidated by Chinese "saber rattling" over a visit to to the island of Taiwan.
