TAIWAN STRAIT - 66 Chinese military aircraft and 14 vessels were detected around Taiwan on August 7th, 2022. 22 of the aircraft had "flown on the east part of the median line of the Taiwan Strait" and the "southwest ADIZ" according to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense.
The Chinese military aircraft included Eight SU-30 multi-role fighter aircraft, six J-16 fighter jets, four J-11 fighter jets, three H-6 nuclear capable bombers and one Y-8 antisubmarine warfare (ASW) aircraft.
CAP aircraft were tasked, radio warnings were issued and air defense missile systems were deployed to monitor the Chinese activities.
Taiwan's Ministry of Defense put out a statement saying, "14 PLAN vessels and 66 PLA aircraft around our surrounding region were detected today until 1700(GMT+8). #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded to these activities with aircraft in CAP, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems".
"22 of the detected aircraft had flown on the east part of the median line of the Taiwan Strait and our SW ADIZ."
In another statement they said, "Stories from PRC media claim that PLAN destroyer Nanjing was found 11.78 km away from Hoping Power Plant in Hualien. #ROCNavy denounces such disinformation. No PLAN vessel has entered our territorial waters since August 4 when the PLA drill started."
