Ongoing Report: Chinese Military Aircraft Spotted Around Taiwan September 2022
577 Chinese military aircraft (spotted every day of the month so far), 145 People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels, and 21 UAVs have been spotted around the island of Taiwan every day since September 1st. Image Taiwan MOD | Public Domain
TAIWAN - Chinese military aircraft (spotted every day of the month of August, and September), and People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels have been spotted around the island of Taiwan every day since August 6th. In addition, September began seeing UAVs flying around the island of Taiwan.
There has also been a sharp increase in the number of Chinese H-6 nuclear capable bombers, and JH-7 fighter bombers spotted around the island of Taiwan this month.
Although China had been regularly sending aircraft into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) previously, after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taipei on September 2nd, 2022, both military aircraft and vessels have been spotted around the island on a daily basis since the visit took place.
Regarding drones having been spotted, Taiwan's MOd stated on September 4th, "Recently, unidentified drones from PRC have been reported hovering over the barracks in Kinmen. To counter the harassment from PRC, #ROCArmedForces have deployed anti-drone jammers & authorized soldiers to fire warning shots & signal flares as countermeasures."
