China Says They Shot Water Cannon At Philippine Vessels To Drive Them Away
Nansha Islands are located in the disputed Spratly Islands claimed by Taiwan, Vietnam, and some parts of the islands are claimed by both Malaysia and the Philippines.
BEIJING - Chinese state-run media responded to reports that the Chinese Coast Guard shot a water cannon at a Philippine vessel by saying that it was driving away the vessel, claiming that it was "intruding" into waters near Ren'ai Jiao of the disputed Nansha Islands.
Although China claims that the Nansha Islands, which are located in the also disputed Spratly Islands, are also claimed by Taiwan, Vietnam, and some parts of the islands are claimed by both Malaysia and the Philippines.

Philippine Armed Forces: "The Armed Forces of the Philippines strongly condemns and expresses grave concern over the China Coast Guard’s (CCG’s) excessive and unlawful actions against Philippine vessels near Ayungin Shoal”.
