UNITED STATES - The stationing of up to 400 troops on the southern border with Mexico has been extended through September, according to a spokesman for the Pentagon.
Pentagon spokesperson, Lt. Col. Devin T. Robinson spoke to NBC News on Thursday and said, “On August 24, 2023, the Secretary of Defense approved an extension of up to 400 personnel providing support to Customs and Border Protection on the Southwest border through September 30, 2023".
Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin had approved the initial deployment of 1,500 military personnel to the southern border for a 90-day period of time in May in order to supplement the Department of Homeland Security to suppress the large number of illegal immigrants crossing over the border into the United States.
