Finland And Sweden Joint Exercises In The Baltic Sea
Finnish Ministry of Defense: "The core of cooperation is built on a common understanding of the security situation and the ability to work together in all situations".
Finnish Ministry of Defense: On September 13, the Finnish and Swedish defense forces carried out a joint exercise in the area of the northern Baltic Sea, in which units from the naval and air forces of both countries participated.
The training troops performed the task of countering surface targets, which was carried out at short notice.
"The exercise was a success," stated Rear Admiral Janne Huusko, head of readiness at the General Staff.
"The task was challenging, which required the troops to be highly prepared, to have a common picture of the situation, and the ability to flexibly share information and lead the participating units of both countries."
Finland and Sweden have been intensifying their bilateral defense cooperation (FISE cooperation) for several years now. Among other things, the goal is to develop compatibility and the readiness and ability of the forces to work together.
In 2023, cooperation and joint training activities will be commonplace in all defense branches.
