BEIRUT - Israel carried out a drone strike in Lebanon on Tuesday night killing senior Hamas official Salih al-Aruri (Saleh al-Arouri) according to a statement by the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organization, as well as Lebanese state media.
Aruri, who was killed in Beirut, was a senior official in Hamas' politburo (Political Bureau) which is the organization's main decision-making body, and was not only second-in-command of the organization, but was a founder of its military wing Qassam Brigades which carried out the assault and kidnapping of Israeli civilians during the October 7th surprise attack.
