TEHRAN - According to the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran closed its nuclear facilities citing "security considerations" amidst speculation that Israel may respond to the recent Iranian attack on its territory by targeting Iran's nuclear facilities. According to the IDF Chief of Staff, the attack by Iran will be met with a response from Israel.
Iran Shuts Down Its Nuclear Facilities, IAEA Inspections Halted
Regarding Iran's nuclear facilities IAEA director said that its inspections came to a halt temporarily this week to, adding "What I can tell you is that our inspectors in Iran were informed by the Iranian government yesterday that all the nuclear facilities that we are inspecting every day would remain closed on security considerations."
He also said that the nuclear facilities were scheduled to open up on Monday for inspections, but decided to wait an extra day.
“This has not had an impact on our inspection activity, but we always call for extreme restraint,” he stated.
Grossi was asked by reporters if he is concerned that Israel could attack Iran's nuclear facilities he said, "We're always concerned about that possibility".
He then added, "Iran's government informed IAEA inspectors yesterday that the nuclear facilities we're inspecting everyday will remain closed on security considerations and would be reopened today for continued inspections. I decided to let the inspectors not to return until tomorrow."
