Israel Carries Out Air Strikes On Iran In Response To Earlier Ballistic Missile Attack By Tehran

Iran confirmed the airstrikes carried out by Israel, saying that they were part of the country’s “escalating measures”.

IRAN/ISRAEL - The Israeli military has reported that it has completed a series of airstrikes on Iran in retaliation for a ballistic missile attack carried out by Tehran on October 1st, adding that they have thwarted “immediate threats to the state of Israel”.

A statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, "Iran attacked Israel twice, including in locations that endangered civilians, and has paid the price for it”.

The IDF also said, “The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th—on seven fronts—including direct attacks from Iranian soil. Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond.”

In a video statement IDF Spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari said, “A short while ago, our planes returned safely after striking military targets in Iran. This was in response to Iran's attacks against the State of Israel in recent months. The retaliatory strike has been completed, and its objectives have been achieved.”

“Following the directive of the political echelon, we carried out precise and targeted strikes on targets in different areas in Iran. These included missile manufacturing facilities used by Iran in its attacks on the State of Israel over the past year.”

“Simultaneously, we targeted Iran’s surface-to-air missile arrays and Iranian aerial capabilities that were intended to restrict Israel's aerial freedom of operation in Iran. Israel now has broader aerial freedom of operation in Iran.”

He added, “This is a clear message – those who threaten the State of Israel will pay a heavy price”.

"Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized. We will do whatever necessary to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel.”

The British Prime Minister said that the Islamic Republic (Iran) should not response to Israel’s strikes on Tehran, and that all parties should exercise restraint.

Starmer said, “I state that Israel has the right to defend itself against Iran's aggression, and I state equally that we must avoid further escalation in the region and ask all parties to show restraint. Iran should not respond.”

Update: The Iranian military announced the death of two of its military personnel as a result of the strikes, "Last night, two of our fighters made the ultimate sacrifice while confronting missiles launched by the criminal Zionist regime”.
