ISRAEL - According to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, all capabilities of the Ministry of will be made available for implementing the hostage release deal with Hamas, receiving the returning hostages, and supporting their families.

Ceasefire Deal Between Israel Agreed To "In Principle", 33 Hostages Would Be Released During Phase 1

JERUSALEM - An initial agreement on a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas has been reached 'in principle.' The deal is structured in three phases, with the first phase involving the release of 33 of the 98 hostages currently held by Hamas, alongside the release of Palestinian prisoners detained by Israel.

"The IMOD's Rehabilitation Department and Department of Families and Commemoration have been placed on full alert alongside the IDF," the Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry added, "They will provide all necessary assistance and support to the returning hostages and their families in all aspects, emphasizing close medical and mental health care and support, and will enhance emotional support and guidance for all families."

Additionally, the first contract under the U.S. aid package given during the recent war was signed today (January 16th, 2025) according to the Ministry.

"The aid package, totaling $8.7 billion, was approved by the U.S. Congress in April of 2024 and includes a dedicated $5.2 billion allocation to strengthen Israel's air and missile defense systems, including the Iron Dome Defense System, the David's Sling Weapon System, and the high-powered Laser Defense System, currently in advanced stages of development," the Ministry added.
