WEST BANK — Masked individuals confronted a diplomatic delegation that included Belgian, French, and Polish representatives near the Christian village of Taybeh on October 17, according to statements from the parties involved.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said the group was attacked by masked settlers, a French mayor was assaulted, and a Belgian consulate vehicle was damaged.
Israeli officials condemned the violence as the work of Israeli rioters, confirmed the visit had not been coordinated with the military, and opened a police investigation.
The Prime Minister’s Office urged caution before drawing conclusions from the reports, stating that serious accusations require serious evidence and that published footage alone does not establish the complete sequence of events or individual responsibility.
