L3Harris Signs Framework Agreements with Department of War to Expand PAC-3 MSE and THAAD Propulsion Production

WASHINGTON — L3Harris Technologies states that on July 27 it signed framework agreements with the Department of War and Lockheed Martin to expand production of critical propulsion components for the PAC-3 MSE interceptor and the THAAD weapon system.

PENTAGON - The Department of Defense has announced the deployment of the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery, along with the U.S. military personnel (crew) to operate the system to bolster Israel's air defenses following Iran's missile attacks against the nation.
The agreements cover the advanced two-pulse solid rocket motor, Attitude Control Motors, and Lethality Enhancer for PAC-3 MSE, along with the solid rocket boost motor and Liquid Divert and Attitude Control System for THAAD.

On January 13 the Department committed a $1 billion convertible preferred equity investment in L3Harris Missile Solutions to expand solid-rocket-motor capacity, with the investment closing on April 23.
Securities and Exchange Commission filings confirm the terms include warrants for the Department and L3Harris retention of majority ownership exceeding 80 percent. Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor, signed separate seven-year frameworks on January 6 and January 29 to raise annual PAC-3 MSE output from approximately 600 to 2,000 interceptors and THAAD interceptor output from 96 to 400.
On June 24 the Department awarded Lockheed Martin a seven-year undefinitized contract action valued at up to $35 billion that executes the THAAD interceptor framework, and L3Harris broke ground the same day on two new propulsion facilities at its Camden, Arkansas campus.
No independent Department of War release confirming the July 27 L3Harris propulsion frameworks has been located in official channels.
