Stoltenberg met with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and called on Russia to reverse its recognition of the Georgian territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states, adding that Russia’s holding of elections in the occupied parts of Georgia and Ukraine is “completely illegal,” according to a statement by NATO.
