An update indicated the incident involved state activity with the vessel transiting towards Iranian territorial waters. This event occurred at 4:30 a.m. UTC.

The tanker, identified as the Marshall Islands-flagged Talara with IMO number 9569994, sailed from Ajman in the United Arab Emirates to Singapore carrying high-sulfur gasoil. It encountered three small boats during transit.

Following the approach, the vessel altered course abruptly towards Iranian waters. Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps forces boarded and diverted the tanker according to maritime security assessments. No injuries to the crew were reported in initial evaluations.
