Pakistan Strongly Condemns Attacks By Iran Within Its Territory And Violation Of Airspace
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said that the responsibility for the consequences of Iran's actions will "lie squarely with Iran".
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has strongly condemned missile attacks within its territory carried out by Iran, as well as the violation of its airspace, which it says resulted in the deaths of two children and the injury of three girls.
The statement by Pakistan said that the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty is “completely unacceptable and can have serious consequences”.
It added that what’s even more unacceptable is that the attack occurred despite the fact that there exist several channels of communication between Pakistan and Iran.
“Pakistan’s strong protest has already been lodged with the concerned senior official in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran,” Pakistan’s statement read.
It went on to say that the Iranian Charge d’affaires has been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey Pakistan’s “strongest condemnation of this blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty,” adding that the responsibility for the consequences “will lie squarely with Iran”.
Pakistan said that it has always stated that terrorism is a common threat to all countries in the region and that it requires coordinated action.
Such unilateral acts, it said, are not in conformity with good neighborly relations and “can seriously undermine bilateral trust and confidence”.
