Pentagon, Northern Command Provide Update on Southern Border Security, Recruitment Success
Approximately 8,500 military personnel from Joint Task Force Southern Border, established in March 2025 by U.S. Northern Command, have been deployed to assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
US SOUTHERN BORDER — On July 2-3, 2025, the Pentagon and U.S. Northern Command released detailed updates on efforts to strengthen security along the U.S. southern border and reported significant achievements in military recruitment.
Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell delivered the announcement during a press conference, emphasizing the Department of Defense’s (DOD) role in supporting border security operations and exceeding recruitment targets under the leadership of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Donald J. Trump.
