Putin: Allowing Ukraine To Use Long-Range Missiles To Strike Russian Territory Would Mean NATO Countries At War With Russia
A recent comment by U.S. President Joe Biden indicated that the United States may be altering the current usage policy on weapons sent to Ukraine in the near future.
MOSCOW - After reports surfaced that the United States is nearing a decision to lift the current restrictions on Ukraine regarding its use of American-supplied weaponry on Russian territory, and a statement was made by Poland that the country is now lifting the ban, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that if this decision is made, it would mean that NATO countries are directly involved in the conflict, and at war with Russia.
Russia’s envoy to the United Nations also said that if the U.S. allows Ukraine to use the long-range weaponry for attacks on Russia, Moscow would treat the attack as direct involvement, and said that it would “start an open war” with Russia.
White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre responded to Putin’s comments, saying that although the statements include “very dangerous rhetoric”, it is not new for Russia.
Biden Indicates Administration May Be Shifting Toward Allowing Ukraine To Use Long-Range Weaponry Against Russia
Despite current restrictions disallowing Kyiv to use weaponry provided to Ukraine by the United States to hit deep within Russian territory, a comment by U.S. President Joe Biden indicated that the United States may be altering the policy in the near future.
When asked about whether the United States would be lifting its current restrictions on Ukraine in regards to how it uses long-range weaponry provided by the U.S. against Russia, Biden said on Tuesday that the administration is “working that out now".
