Temporary or complete loss of High-Frequency radio signals on the sunlit side of the Earth was possible during this event.

An X1.6 flare was observed from Region 3386 on 05 Aug. This flare lasted  59 minutes, peaking at 05/2221 UTC. Temporary or complete loss of High-Frequency radio signals on the sunlit side of the Earth was possible during this event. 

A partial halo CME was associated with this flare. Analysis of this CME is ongoing, but preliminary results indicate an  Earth-directed component, with the bulk of the plasma directed ahead of Earth’s orbit.
