An X1.6 flare was observed from Region 3386 on 05 Aug. This flare lasted  59 minutes, peaking at 05/2221 UTC. Temporary or complete loss of High-Frequency radio signals on the sunlit side of the Earth was possible during this event. 

A partial halo CME was associated with this flare. Analysis of this CME is ongoing, but preliminary results indicate an  Earth-directed component, with the bulk of the plasma directed ahead of Earth’s orbit.
