WASHINGTON — On December 29, U.S. President Donald Trump indicated backing for Israeli military operations targeting Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs if development persists. During discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Florida Trump stated, “If they will continue with the missiles. Yes. The nuclear, fast.”
This position emerges amid reports of Iranian missile drills in late December and follows joint United States-Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June, which inflicted substantial damage.
Trump’s comments align with assessments of Iran’s ongoing activities, potentially influencing scheduled diplomatic engagements between Iran and Israel later in the month.
Iranian authorities have issued stern warnings of reprisals, reflecting heightened regional strains. The dialogue also encompassed the Gaza ceasefire and disarmament requirements for Hamas.
The session between Trump and Netanyahu included various regional concerns, including Middle East stability. Trump stressed the necessity for Hamas to relinquish arms, warning of severe consequences otherwise. Trump added, “There will be hell to pay.”
