Update On Venezuelan TdA Gang Activity In Aurora, Colorado
The Aurora Police Department says they have arrested a documented member of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang who is now in the custody of ICE.
COLORADO - The City of Aurora, as well as the Police Department has released new statements after a video surfaced showing what's alleged to be armed Venezuelan gang members attempting to break into an apartment, and comments by Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky claiming that the Tren de Aragua, (TdA) gang has taken over parts of the city.
Although the City admitted that the gang is active in the area, and that it has arrested one of its member, it says reports on the gang's activity in the media are "conflated and considerably exaggerated" and says that the city is a "safe community".
The City reiterated statements by the Aurora Police Department regarding the arrest of 22-year-old Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirino, also known as "Cookie" or "Gelleta" and confirmed that he is a documented member of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang.
It added that, "The department is not aware of his status within the gang. He is currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)."
