US Begins Construction Of Temporary Pier Off Gaza's Coast

The temporary pier will allow the delivery of up to 2 million meals per day, according to the Pentagon which says: At no time will we require U.S. forces to actually go on the ground.

GAZA - The United States has begun construction of a temporary pier off of Gaza’s coast that will enable the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, up to 2 million meals per day according to the Pentagon, defense officials, and U.S. Central Command.

The temporary pier is expected to be completed early in May, after which an initial delivery of 90 truckloads of international aid will be transported to Gaza using the pier. The Pentagon also said that the aid traffic will be scaled up to 150 truckloads once the pier is fully operational.

In Early March the Pentagon released a statement that said that the DoD would undertake an “emergency mission to establish a temporary pier on the coast of Gaza to deliver up to 2,000,000 humanitarian aid meals per day, the Pentagon announced today”.

Although the U.S. Department of Defense says that there will be no boots on the ground in Gaza, soldiers will be located on the pier.
