The incident involved a spill of fuel oil from the vessel, with the source subsequently secured. The Coast Guard, in coordination with the Texas General Land Office and the responsible party, Forestwave Navigation BV, deployed personnel and assets to the scene for containment and mitigation.

Air monitoring and safety assessments of the area continued without reports of injuries or wildlife impacts. The Galveston Ship Channel remained closed from Gulf Copper to the Pelican Island Bridge to minimize the spill’s spread.

The closure of the ship channel aimed to facilitate response operations and reduce potential environmental effects. Officials emphasized ongoing monitoring to evaluate air quality and any emerging risks.
