MIDDLE EAST - US Central Command, General Michael Kurilla made a second visit in the same week to Israel, according to the Israeli military on Friday, during which he and Israel’s army chief Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi held a “situational assessment on security and strategic issues, as well as joint preparations in the region, as part of the response to threats in the Middle East”.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a suicide (one-way) attack drone attack today on a U.S. military base in Kharab al-Jir, northeastern Syria, in the countryside of Al-Hasakah, adding that a fire broke out in the base afterword.

No injuries were reported from the attack as per initial reports, medical evaluations are ongoing according to a Reuters report. There have been multiple attacks recently on bases housing U.S. troops in Syria and Iraq.

Meanwhile, U.S. forces continue to carry out regular defensive and offensive strikes on Houthi targets, including attack drone and missile interceptions, and attacks on Houthi ground control stations in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

The interceptions and attacks are said by U.S. Central Command to destroy targets presenting a “clear and imminent threat to U.S. and coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region”.
