US Forces Stand Ready, Postured As China Says Provoked By "Taiwan Independence" Will Continue Actions Until "Reunification"
Chinese Foreign Ministry: Taiwan independence forces will be left with their heads broken and blood flowing after colliding with China achieving complete unification.
BEIJING/TAIPEI - U.S. Indo-Pacific Command released a statement saying that its forces “stand ready and postured” as China carries out “Joint Sword-2024A” military drills around the island of Taiwan which it says is “punishment” and in retaliation for “separatists acts of Taiwan independence”. Beijing also warned against interference and provocation by “external forces”.
The drills, which began to be carried out three days after the inauguration speech by Taiwan’s new President Lai Ching-te, which was said by Beijing to be a “confession of independence”, were carried out by Chinese forces around the island of Taiwan and simulated the ability to “seize” comprehensive battlefield control.
China warned that it will continue to increase its “countermeasures” one step further until it completes the reunification of the island of Taiwan with mainland China.
Chinese defense ministry spokesman Qu Qian said on Friday that Taiwan’s new President Lai, “has seriously challenged the one-China principle... pushing our compatriots in Taiwan into a perilous situation of war and danger”.
"Every time 'Taiwan independence' provokes us, we will push our countermeasures one step further, until the complete reunification of the motherland is achieved," he said.
