ERBIL - Washington is on heightened alert for "activity" by Iranian-backed militant groups in Iraq after the U.S. military reported having intercepted two drones carrying out an attack on the al-Asad and al-Harir air base in Erbil where U.S. forces are stationed.
The Kurdistan security agency "Kurdistan Counter Terrorism" said that a drone fell into a desert region near Batas village in the district of Harir at 12:18 pm local time, but did not give any other details.
