NEW YORK — On September 16 the U.S. Mission to the United Nations posted remarks by Ambassador Jennifer Locetta, Alternative Representative for Special Political Affairs, from an emergency Security Council session the day before on Houthi advances toward the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Locetta said freedom of navigation underpins the global economy and that the United States is working to protect it, and she stated support for Yemen’s legitimate government as it counters the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
