This move is part of an ongoing mission to enhance operational capabilities in the region, with personnel drawn from both the Air Force and Army. The deployment includes approximately 40 intelligence analysts and around 590 engineers, who will undertake a range of tasks to strengthen border security operations.

The intelligence analysts, sourced from active and reserve Air Force components, will assist the Joint Intelligence Task Force – Southern Border in processing and analyzing data.

Meanwhile, the engineers, primarily from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the 18th Airborne Corps, will focus on planning, coordination, and various engineering projects. Specific assignments for the engineering units will be determined once they arrive at the border.

Units involved include the 20th Engineer Brigade from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 19th Engineer Battalion and 15th Engineer Company from Fort Knox, Kentucky, and the 687th Engineer Company from Fort Johnson, Louisiana.

This deployment will bring the total number of troops assigned to the southern border to approximately 9,600, though exact figures may shift as personnel rotate and additional units are tasked.

Planning is ongoing, and no firm timeline for the deployments has been established. The effort reflects a continued commitment to supporting border security through military resources and expertise.
