Baltimore Police Re-Issue Bump-and-Rob Carjacking Alert, Juvenile Arrests Continue
Baltimore Police report that suspects may follow or target vehicles. In some cases they intentionally hit a vehicle, often from behind.
BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police re-posted a public safety alert on May 22 confirming it is investigating recent carjackings in which suspects intentionally strike vehicles and target drivers when they exit.
The department first issued the alert March 25 describing the bump-and-rob tactic in which multiple suspects follow or target vehicles and in some cases intentionally hit them, often from behind, before approaching drivers who exit to check damage.
The tactic matches earlier documented incidents in which stolen vehicles were used to execute similar maneuvers.
