The department first issued the alert March 25 describing the bump-and-rob tactic in which multiple suspects follow or target vehicles and in some cases intentionally hit them, often from behind, before approaching drivers who exit to check damage.

The tactic matches earlier documented incidents in which stolen vehicles were used to execute similar maneuvers.
