Japan Reports Russian Naval Vessel Sailing Around Japanese Islands
The Russian Navy vessels "carried out surveillance and information gathering," around he Japanese islands, according to Japan's Ministry of Defense.
Japanese Ministry of Defense (translation): "Regarding the trend of Russian naval vessels, the Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces have announced that the Maritime Self-Defense Force Ominato Guard Corps "Suou" (Ominato), Yokosuka Guard Corps "Enshu" (Yokosuka), and the 2nd Air Group "P-3C" (Hachinohe) belonging to the 2nd Aviation Group. They also carried out surveillance and information gathering."
