Trump Warns Iran of Total Destruction If Assassination Threats Materialize Amid Ongoing Protests and Internet Outage
The threat follows Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s January 11 warning that Iran could target U.S. bases or Israel if attacked.
MIDDLE EAST - Iranian state television aired a direct threat on January 14 stating “This time, the bullet won’t miss” in reference to U.S. President Donald Trump, following Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s January 11 warning that Iran could target U.S. bases or Israel if attacked.
Iranian Armed Forces spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi stated on January 20 that “Trump knows that if any hand of aggression is extended toward our leader, we not only cut that hand but also we will set fire to their world.” Iran’s parliament called for “qisas” against Trump, interpreted as a direct threat.
President Donald Trump issued statements on January 20-21 warning that “anything ever happens, the whole country is going to get blown up” in response to these threats. These developments have occurred amid ongoing protests in Iran with over 2,400 reported deaths since late December, alongside a nationwide internet outage starting January 8.
In July, following the Israel-Iran war, Mohammad-Javad Larijani, adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, made threatening remarks on Iranian state television regarding the potential vulnerability of Trump at Mar-a-Lago: “As he lies there... a small drone might hit him in the navel.”
In January, Iranian officials responded via Islamic Republic News Agency, indicating that any attack on Supreme Leader Khamenei would constitute a declaration of war.
During the Israel-Iran war, U.S. forces expended over 150 THAAD interceptors and 80 SM-3 missiles in defense of Israel, representing approximately one-quarter of all ordered THAAD interceptors, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
