U.S. B-1B Lancer and Allied Aircraft Conduct Formation Flyover Over Latvia

EUROPE — U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircraft conducted a formation flyover with Hungarian and Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets over the Monument of Freedom in Riga, Latvia, on August 19, 2025.
The event involved two Hungarian Gripens deployed to Šiauliai Air Base in Lithuania for NATO air policing. Two Swedish Gripens participated. The B-1B Lancers were based at Ørland Air Base in Norway after deploying from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas.
The Lancers arrived in Norway on August 9, 2025. The Lancers integrated with Norwegian and other allied air forces. The integration included rehearsal of tactical processes for identifying and engaging threats. Deployments of this type occur on a regular basis.
