US Destroyer Shoots Down Drone From Houthi Controlled Yemen
U.S. officials said that the drone was close enough to the vessel that they made the call to shoot it down.
RED SEA - The USS Mason has intercepted and shot down another drone from Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled Yemen territory while in the Red Sea. U.S. officials said that it was close enough to the vessel that they made the call to shoot it down, though they weren't sure that the USS Mason was the drone's target.
The USS Mason intercepted the drone as it was headed towards the destroyer. There were no damages to American vessels, equipment, or personnel as a result of the shootdown, according to military officials.
On Sunday, after another similar attack, U.S. Central Command said in a statement that they, “Have every reason to believe that these attacks, while launched by the Houthis in Yemen, are fully enabled by Iran".
CENTCOM added, "The United States will consider all appropriate responses in full coordination with its international allies and partners".
