The award establishes initial space-based sensing capability designed to track and target airborne threats globally and delivers a resilient layer that complements traditional airborne platforms facing increasingly sophisticated anti-access and area-denial systems.

SB-AMTI integrates advanced space-based sensors, secure rapid communication links, and resilient ground processing as a system-of-systems architecture to provide the Joint Force with sustained battle-space awareness over contested airspace.

The program answers the 2026 National Defense Strategy mandate to ensure second-to-none operational flexibility and all-domain moving target indication against all targets, fortifying a layered capability by leveraging the space vantage point for continuous oversight where traditional sensors cannot reach.
